PHMSA Training Materials Released

9:00 am

PHMSA has announced the release of its Transportation Rail Incident Preparedness and Response (TRIPR) resource materials for emergency responders.

DOT developed the web-accessible TRIPR resources to offer a flexible approach to training emergency responders to prepare for rail incidents involving flammable liquids. This off-the-shelf training is available online and can be used anywhere throughout the country. The materials were developed to provide critical information on best practices related to rail incidents involving Class 3 flammable liquids such as crude oil and ethanol.

TRIPR was developed in conjunction with other governmental public safety agencies including FEMA, USCG, EPA, rail carriers, and industry subject matter experts. The curriculum consists of nine training modules that focus on key response functions and incorporates three animated, interactive training scenarios and introductory videos. The training resources offer a flexible approach to training first responders and emergency services personnel in pre-incident planning and response.

PHMSA will also host a series of open house events to promote the TRIPR curriculum. Immediately following the open houses, PHMSA will facilitate free training sessions of the TRIPR curriculum for local emergency responders.
